The Create Programme at The Snowdon School of Furniture 2023
Create: Rethinking wood for the future is a 16-week course where 8 Furniture Design graduates had the opportunity to learn about the value of wood as a sustainable material for the production of furniture. The programme covered traditional methods of making furniture which were refined through batch production.
There were also talks from guest tutors who are experts in their field and trips were organised to the visit commercial sawmills and woodland heritage sites where experts spoke on woodland management, harvesting and valuing standing and sawn planks.

Windsor Chair
Inspired from the traditional methods of Windsor chair making, it has 6 vertical spindles to hold up the bow.

Panelled Shelving
Developed out of an exploration in traditional panelling, this system builds on the original technique to add vertical structures between the panels.

Coat Hanger
Made from steam bending experiments, this knock - down coat hanger has removable pegs in the centre so it can be easily set down and transported.
